After filling out all that important lender and Realtor® paperwork, I bet you’re ready to start looking at homes! I’m sure you have been perusing the internet and your head is swimming by now. Just wait until you have looked at a few of them, they will start running together. So bring a pen and a camera and get ready to take notes.
As I mentioned above, you will be looking at hundreds of homes online before you narrow down which ones you would like to actually walk in. Your agent will send you a few suggestions and your head will swim. I suggest spending about two hours on each showing with your Realtor®.
You can see about 4-6 homes if they are within a reasonable distance of each other. Bring pen and paper to take notes. Ask your Realtor ® for the “Buyer” sheet of each home you are viewing. You can make your notes on that and it will be less confusing. Write the date you saw the house because if you make multiple searches, you WILL get them confused. After each session rank the homes you saw that day. Jot down the pros and cons of each. I promise that will help in your decision making.
It may be necessary for you to make an additional trip or two to your favorites before you make your final decision as to which home you will make an offer. That’s okay too. Purchasing a home is a huge investment and should not be taken lightly.
