The House Buying Process: Step 2 Find a REALTOR to Represent You
The House Buying Process: Step 2. Finding both a REALTOR ® and lender you feel comfortable with goes hand in hand. They are very important steps. Step 1 addressed getting pre-approved for a mortgage, now it’s time to talk representation.
One of the most important documents you can sign is your Buyer Representation Agreement. The seller signs a listing agreement to sell their home with the understanding their REALTOR® will represent them in the selling process. You need representation too! If you do not have a buyer representation agreement, technically your REALTOR® represents the seller and can only relay facts and details, not advice and opinion about any property you are shown. So, when you find a REALTOR® you like, please sign this important document before your begin your home search!
You will be spending a lot of time with him and the relationship you have with your agent can affect everything. Your REALTOR® knows the ropes and will be there with you even after your home purchase has closed. Not only will your REALTOR refer you to trusted lenders if you need one, she is knowledgeable about the market trends and the area. Your REALTOR® can advise you about everything involved in the home buying process. She will negotiate on your behalf and will be there to hold your hand the whole way. She will be there to fight for you if necessary and make sure the correct paperwork is completed in a timely manner. Your wonderful REALTOR® will remind you of seemingly simple thing such as getting the utilities transferred in you name before closing.
Step 3 will discuss your home search. Stay tuned!
